Belva Mehlschlau Hanson: Church Organist
I was born in Santa Maria to the Peter Mehlschau family of Nipomo. My older brother Gene and I grew up on a farming ranch out in the country. We both took piano lessons from childhood on. I graduated from Nipomo and Arroyo Grande schools. I earned a four-year degree in Music from College of the Pacific (now UOP) in Stockton. I have been the organist for First Presbyterian Church continuously since 1963. As a private piano teacher, I have taught more than 800 students (some second generation), I have played for 1500 funerals and 500 weddings, and i am married (for life) to The Rev. Gary Hanson. We have a cat named Tigger who runs the house.!

I came to this church in June of 2008, transferring from Westminster Presbyterian Church of Port Hueneme where I was involved in worship music for 6 six years. I was born and raised in Thousand Oaks, CA where I began playing piano at age 7.
